Biography

Firdos Ahmad attended All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi where he received his Ph.D. in Hematology. Dr. Ahmad moved to Philadelphia, PA where he joined Thomas Jefferson University for his first post-doctoral fellowship. He studied role of Ca2+ signaling in the platelet activation and thrombosis and the role of kinases in the stress-induced cardiac remodeling and failure. Following this, Dr. Ahmad moved to Center for Translational Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia where he continued his cardiovascular research in second post-doctoral fellowship during 2012-2014. Dr. Ahmad has received numerous local and national awards and honors, including Pier M. Mannucci young investigator award for publishing best article as a first author. After successful completion of his post-doc, Dr. Ahmad joined as a Research Assistant Professor at Division of Cardiovascular Medicine Vanderbilt University where he is currently studying the pressure-overload and obesity induced-cardiomyopathy and heart failure. Moreover, his research also focuses on ischemic heart diseases. He is involved in several foundations and organizations as anactive member including the American Heart Association and International Society of Heart Research. He is member of reviewer committee of several peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, PLOS-One, Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry and Hematology.
